HOMEWORK POLICIES
1. Homework is to be completed carefully and conscientiously. The homework I assign will
be used as a learning tool for students to reinforce the day's lesson. Do you think that mastering an instrument
or a sport would require only about 10 minutes a day 4 days a week? Of course not. Well, learning a language
is no different. It takes a considerable amount of effort, practice, and more practice, so that is what you can expect.
Therefore you need to be working on and improving your language skills outside of class. The homework at times lends
itself to cooperative activity, and sometimes to individual activity. Please DO NOT confuse what it is to help someone
else and what it is to cheat. Cheating is when you use someone else's work and take credit for it as your
own. It is also supplying work to someone else and giving them credit as having done it themself. I
will use this definition on our assignments and grade accordingly. Anyone cheating will not receive credit
for their work.
2. If for some reason you are not able to complete an assignment on time, please talk with me
about it. Extensions will be granted in certain circumstances with parent notification. INVOLVE YOUR PARENTS AND/OR
GUARDIANS. Let them know what you need to do, how they can help, and how I can help outside of class. Try your
best not to fall behind; work becomes more and more unpleasant when done under stressful circumstances. It will negatively
affect your learning experience and your perception of the value of the class. Don't dig yourself into a hole, forcing yourself
to give up or cheat or be stressed. I will arrange times to tutor after school upon request, and can help via email
as well.
